Ronnie Finch DiCappo

A Contemporary Colorist painter, Ronnie Finch DiCappo draws deep inspiration from the vibrant light and landscapes of the Southwest. A resident of Albuquerque for over 35 years with a master’s degree in architecture and a background in commercial interior design, she famously created Albuquerque’s Tri-Centennial Towers and the Manoa Jojola Memorial Medicine Wheel. Her transition into plein air painting a decade and a half ago sparked a passion for capturing the "essence of the moment," relying on spontaneity and an emotional connection to the landscape to produce works described as joyful and uplifting.

Ronnie’s signature style alternates between textural brushstrokes and heavy impasto marks created with palette knives. Painting primarily en plein air alla prima, she focuses on balancing harmonious shapes and light-to-shadow values to give her work depth. By leaning into a subconscious, spiritual realm of creativity she aims to expose the "hand of the artist" while interpreting the visual world through an emotionally fluid and color-forward lens.
