Chama Currents, Bode Crest

This was a cool place to paint on a hot summer day. A lovely setting with moving water and Bode Hill peeking out above the trees. Everything was so green that I had to add more colors. When I paint on site, I paint quickly in order to capture the mood and time of day. This painting combines brush work with heavy strokes from spatulas.

Ronnie’s signature style alternates between textural brushstrokes and heavy impasto marks created with palette knives. Painting primarily en plein air alla prima, she focuses on balancing harmonious shapes and light-to-shadow values to give her work depth.
