Cowgirlz

The low lights shining through dusk, the assumed mud on the tires of the cars parked out front, the lone palms swaying without other flora in the scene: Nowlin’s motels switch the question to the viewer. Instead of asking, as he often does, to join his travelers on their sojourns through nature, Cowgirlz, Caravan, and others from this series ask, “I wonder what’s  going on here?”.  Perfectly encapsulating the moody ambiguity of dusk in the desert, these works are timely for commemorating the centennial anniversary of our “Mother Road”, Route 66.
