Edition 1 of 5. Every summer, the city of Ogden, Utah, hosts an annual car show. While often associated with car culture in parts of the Southwest such as New Mexico, Ogden has a large lowrider community. For most of the day, I tried to make an image showing the grit and grace of my friend's mid-generation Oldsmobile Cutlass. At the show's conclusion, a procession occurs. Right as he was peeling out, I ran after him and tripped the shutter while engaging my handheld flash unit. Strong diagonals in the foreground and background contrast with the hand-formed body work of the Cutlass in the midground. The subsequent composition creates a dialog with the viewer: a sign over the lowrider's hood ask "Who's Amazing;" the image title answers.
