“Tzu-Chey” is a metal collage. The image that is depicted is taken from a photograph I found in my research on the history of Laguna Pueblo. The photo was taken by William Henry Jackson who made it his mission to document the changing west. I found it in Legends of America. Since then, I found a reference to the sale of a cropped version print of this photo having been sold through a gallery in Santa Fe. It identified her as Tzu-Chey (Mrs. Minnie Size). In my MetalScape, Tzu-Chey is dressed in traditional attire from the period. Her features, sleeves, leggings, and moccasins are cut from nickel. Her dress is cut from copper and the belt is secured with a brass button. Her neck sports jewelry. She is draped in a nickel weaving which is pierced to suggest the traditional striped feature of their weaving. She balances on her head a large, traditional piece of pottery, with iconic motifs, which was cut from nickel.
