Summer Clouds by Gustave Baumann

Gustauve Baumann is a well-known and much beloved artist from the 20th century.  Born in Germany, Baumann came to New Mexico in 1918 after beginning his career in larger American cities.  Like many artists in his generation, he spent time in the Works Progress Administration, and expressed a deep curiosity about mankind and commitment to portraying scenes of daily life. He was fascinated with life in Northern New Mexico, particularly inspired by Pueblo culture and specific Southwestern traditions he had never seen before.  He worked with Will Shuster on the first Zozobra. 

Baumann is known for his woodprints, but did work in other media, such a oil paint and even furniture.
