The “Native American Maiden” is made by piercing (hand-cut) the image into a single layer of nickel. The image is mounted on brass with a patina applied to the surface. This was done by using an acid wash made from vinegar and salt which leaves a textured and colorful patina on the metal. The nickel image is attached to the brass base with rivets and further oxidation is applied for shadow. Both pieces are sealed with a gloss finish. They are mounted in a custom frame made from live edge pieces from a cherry tree that had been cut down. There is no glass and all detail can be viewed easily. Since they are sealed, glass in the frame is not necessary. The result is a warm, cozy, and welcoming feel for this view of the Native American Maiden. 3 ½” X 5 ½” Metal in a 5” X 7” Custom Live Edge Wood Frame
