Light Snow

This is a pastel of a dawn scene in Monument Valley, AZ after a light overnight snow. I wanted to capture the glowing red rocks contrasting with the cool snow. Soft pastel on UART dark paper.

John is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of New Mexico and served as its former vice-president. His work, which captures the intense light and shadow of Western landscapes, has been featured in prestigious juried exhibitions such as Masterworks of New Mexico and the International Pastel Painting Exhibition at the Millicent Rogers Museum.
