Earth Shapes

This vibrant painting by Louis Ribak demonstrates his full commitment to abstract expression at this point in his career. As a key member of the "Taos Moderns", Ribak evolved away from his figurative, realistic style from his earlier years, and even educated other burgeoning abstractionists at his Taos Valley Art School (which opened in 1947).

Louis Ribak died in 1980, prior to his wife and fellow painter, Beatric Mandelman.
