I like to believe that our ancestors are our muses. They may be a source of support and inspiration for us.
“MetalScape- Swim with an Ancestor” includes a copper metal embossed ocean with two sea turtles and a subtle image of an ancestor. The star of the scene is our Orca Whale swimming to his heart’s desire in this beautiful ocean. She is totally in her element and feels safe and secure as she swims and communes with one of her ancestors. The whale is constructed by piercing nickel and layering a bright piece of brass as the reflection of the light in the sky at the surface.
The left-side forefront includes imagery of swimming fish among coral and sea kelp. This is achieved by piercing the images into brass. A patina has been applied resulting in colors from brass to rust and turquoise, The center to right-side forefront is constructed with various pieces of nickel and brass that are linked together with wire and accented with wire curly-ques. A patina is applied resulting in various colors. It looks like kelp along the ocean floor.
Each segment is secured to the background with rivets. 8” X 11” metal collage in a 11” X 14” in Custom Shadowbox Frame
