Collection: Rodriguez, Andrew

A Laguna Pueblo artist based in Albuquerque, Andrew Rodriguez blends ancestral tradition with contemporary sculpture. He studied under the legendary Allan Houser at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) and earned his Fine Arts degree with distinction from the University of New Mexico. His work, primarily in clay relief and sculpture, utilizes traditional smoke firing and stone polishing to capture themes of spiritual mystery and emergence. By merging these ancient techniques with modern forms, Rodriguez creates unique expressions of his Indian heritage that have been recognized by master artists like Blue Corn and Pablita Velarde.

Rodriguez’s excellence is documented through decades of top honors, including multiple "Best of Division" awards at the Santa Fe Indian Market (SWAIA) and a Fellowship Award in 2001. Notable commissions include the Stations of the Cross for the San Antonio de Padua Church at Sandia Pueblo and a prominent feature in New Mexico Magazine. From winning "Best of Show" at the New Mexico State Fair to exhibiting at the Heard Museum, Rodriguez continues to expand his artistic reach while maintaining the integrity of the traditional methods that define his award-winning career.
