Collection: Nowlin, BC

Born in 1949 and raised on the edge of the Sandia Pueblo reservation in New Mexico, B.C. Nowlin creates vibrant, emotive paintings deeply influenced by his lifelong connection to Native American culture. While not Native American himself, his intimate relationships within these communities have shaped his artistic identity, symbolized by the "bird-and-moon" logo he signs on every piece. His work often depicts spiritual, universal journeys and "tribes of every nation" moving toward luminous destinations, characterized by an intense use of color and a sense of mystery.

Nowlin's art has achieved global recognition, appearing in prestigious collections ranging from the Discovery Channel to the Palace collection of Costa Rica. His paintings have captured the attention of celebrity collectors like Sophia Loren and Robert Plant, and have even been featured on Hollywood sets and album covers. Whether finding inspiration on his daily motorcycle rides or through his experimental gallery showings, Nowlin remains a prolific force in the contemporary Southwest art scene, residing today in a historic adobe home in his native New Mexico.
