Collection: Mason, Bobbi

Born in Amarillo and now based in Albuquerque, this artist’s creative journey was shaped by 15 years living across South America and a deep family legacy in the arts. As the daughter of Tommy Hicks, founder of the Shidoni Foundry, she grew up immersed in sculpture and mastered the technical arts of welding, brazing, and torching steel. Her work is driven by a desire for harmony and balance, drawing from her diverse studies in pottery, oil painting, and encaustics to create three-dimensional forms that enrich everyday environments.

Her current focus is functional steel sculpture, specifically Japanese-style bells handcrafted from repurposed steel cylinders once used by scuba divers and firefighters. By rescuing these vintage cylinders—which possess a rich, deep resonance far superior to modern aluminum—she creates individual wind bells featuring copper or aluminum sails and recycled hockey-puck clappers. Whether displayed on custom-fabricated Torii stands or hung in a garden, these pieces combine industrial recycling with musical artistry to bring a serene, spiritual tone to private collections.
