Sarah Blumenschein

Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sarah Blumenschein returned to her lifelong passion for art after a fourteen-year career in industrial engineering. Specializing in pastels, she is drawn to the medium’s immediate color and layering capabilities. While she enjoys landscapes, her primary focus is still life, where she masterfully captures the play of light on reflective surfaces like glass, china, and florals to create a vibrant, three-dimensional illusion.

Since entering her first exhibition in 2003, Sarah has garnered prestigious international recognition, including the Grand Prize in the Pastel Journal’s Pastel 100 and multiple “Best of Show” awards. She holds Master Circle status with the International Association of Pastel Societies and Signature status with the Pastel Society of America. Ultimately, Sarah’s work seeks to translate complex emotions into color and shape, aiming to inspire a sense of joy and happiness in every viewer.
