Heater, Lu

From a ranch in west-central South Dakota with many stops in between, Lu and her husband, four parrots and 2 rabbits, have found Albuquerque, NM to be their home for the past 17 years. 
For Lu, it has always been art and horses; she learned to ride at four years old. Many creative endeavors have included art in college, 30-plus years a professional custom picture framer, fiber arts (macrame, batiks, waving) sewing, Interior design studies, many years of ceramic arts (emphasizing Southwest pottery designs) earning prestigious awards including Best in Show. 
Lu enjoys woodworking and refinishing old wood finds and picture frames. She also finds time for gourd art! 
For the past 10 years, Lu has been involved in the Model Horse hobby; 1:9 scale models of horses, making their saddles and bridles and creating in miniature Native American Northern Plains Indians and their war ponies.  Extensive research into the native horse culture has led to trips to the Crow Nation and Custer Battlefield. Lu has garnered many national and international awards with her miniatures.  
In addition to wood, clay and resin, Lu’s mediums of choice are acrylics, watercolor pigments, color pencil, inks, art markers and also uses an airbrush to apply some of these pigments.
