Mary Ann Weems
Mary Ann Weems, a native New Mexican former owner of Weems Gallery and Framing, began the gallery in 1981 as an art studio.  Prior to this, she participated as an artist in multiple arts and crafts fairs, where she also served as a board member.  Having a degree in Art and  a desire to teach, Mary Ann found that art teaching jobs were a rarity.  Needing a place to paint and having 2 young children created a complex situation.  Thus, the studio and gallery was born.  Wanting to make art affordable to all with this goal in mind, she asked her fellow fair artists to show with her at her newly formed gallery.  38 years later Mary Ann faced major health issues which forced the sale of her gallery and frame shop.  She now proudly shows her art along side the many others who are represented at Weems Gallery.  During her tenure as owner of the gallery and frame shop she was honored with a multitude of accolades.  A partial list follows.  Albuquerque Museum Board Member, Albuquerque Gallery Association President, NM Arts Commission - Board Member, Bernalillo County Arts Commission - Board Member, Albuquerque Arts Commission - Board Member, Weems Gallery & Framing Voted Best Gallery 1985 - 2020 for Albuquerque Journal, Albuquerque the Magazine, Crosswinds, Who’s Who in America. Distinguished Alumni Award - William Woods University, BRAVO Award Art.
