An Iguana that can nestle under leaves for shade on the sandy desert has to be the happiest Iguana that ever lived.
“Iguana” is a metal collage which is constructed from brass, copper, and nickel.
He is constructed from pierced nickel. The texture on his skin makes him come alive with the use of stamps and shaping of the metal. The background is brass soaked in an acid bath of vinegar and salt. This method applies a patina to the metal that it is always unpredictable. In this case, it left distinct triple bands of color and texture. The resulting turquoise, rust and tan colors make for a very dramatic background for this Iguana. “Serendipity” again. I am delighted with this effect.
His shelter is leaves made from copper. They are pierced, stamped, oxidized, polished, twisted, and folded for texture and a 3-Dimensional effect. The double mat with green and rust matches the colors in the piece perfectly. Size: 5” X 7” metal, double mat in a 8” X 10” Shadowbox Frame
