I grew up in New Mexico and I love it’s people and their traditions.  Red chili ristras are one of the brightest, happiest traditions in our Enchanted Land.  Red chili pods are strung together and are displayed near arches, doors and windows all over New Mexico.  They are an iconic decoration in New Mexico, especially during the harvest months and holidays serving as a symbol of “welcome.”  Ristras also have their practical uses as the star ingredient of the delicious red chili sauce and other New Mexico dishes.  I hope that when you see this ristra in your home that you will remember this beautiful land and the lovely people.
